Abstract

Community-based learning (CBL) has become one of the growing approaches in higher education, especially in the field of horticulture. It gives students the opportunity to be directly involved in projects involving local communities, allowing them to apply the theories learned in the classroom to complex real-life situations. Through PFS, students gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that are essential in the world of work. However, the application of PFS in horticultural education faces challenges, including the gap between community needs and existing curriculum structures. This imbalance can reduce the effectiveness of PFS in achieving educational goals. Therefore, there is a need for better integration between the academic curriculum and community needs, as well as support from the government and relevant institutions. This support includes the provision of adequate resources, supportive policies, and sufficient funding to ensure that PFS can be implemented sustainably and deliver optimal outcomes for students and communities. In addition, it is important to strengthen collaboration between universities and local stakeholders to bridge the gap between theory and practice so that education can provide maximum benefits for all parties involved.
